film Mentorship

IS FILM YOUR VOICE?

WHAT IS IT ABOUT FILM?

Are you already hooked? Is there just something about film that just makes you want to explore the medium? Have you already made a short movie? Created videos for your church or a local business? Shot a music video for your friends' band on your smartphone? If you are drawn to the medium but recognize that you now need foundational skills in order to develop as a filmmaker, then the Bez Arts film program may be just the right fit. Get the basics down in your first year and we'll help you focus in the coming years on the part of filmmaking where your skills shine, build relationships in the industry, get hands-on experience and build toward a body of work that you can be proud of.

Is this you?

You're already doing it

Have you already been trying to create short videos? Have your own YouTube channel? We're looking for people that are already actively trying their hand at filmmaking of various kinds and want to get better, get confident with foundational skills, and at the same time get some perspective on what faith has to do with it. We also expect you to come with your own basic equipment so if you join us you're serious.

You understand that it takes focus

Ha! Focus. No pun intended, but it works. You care enough about learning that you're wiling to work for it. Our Bez Arts Mentorship programs are not focused on grades or certificates. We want to launch creatives that have the character they need to push through the challenges that come with making film, and are committed to doing the best work they can with the skills and resources they have available. You want to earn the right to get on sets or be recognized for your own work because of who you are as much as what you can. The industry is looking for people like that.

You like to learn

One of the most important characteristics of a learner is humility. We have found that the more we learn, the more we realize what we don't know. We're interested in working with people that respect others, are keen to learn, and are also keen to share what they've learned. Because our Bez Arts Mentorship programs overlap in some common areas related to media, arts and culture, you'll get the chance to learn with, and from, dancers and musicians.
